13/06/2008 - Things are moving on the left bank!

On 13th June 2008 the new traffic crossroads "Ovaal van Wippelgem" on the R4-west in Evergem was officially inaugurated. Together with the Port Authority and the roads department of East-Flanders, G2i organised the official inauguration in the presence of minister-president Kris Peeters, Flemish minister for public works Hilde Crevits, alderman for Port and Innovation Sas Van Rouveroij, the mayor of Evergem Erik De Wispelaere and a number of other politicians. The project is part of the entire development of the R4-west, situated on the west bank of the canal Ghent-Terneuzen, into a primary category road, where in the future all connections will no longer be on ground level. G2i has always been in favour of the "Ovaal van Wippelgem". This will immensely improve the accessibilty of the industrial sites, increase the safety and reduce disturbance for local residents. G2i has realised the access road to the Ovaal van Wippelgem at its own expense. In the "armpit" of this road the developer is now working on the top location "Kop van Nest". Its direct location at the oval and the R4 makes this site into a sight location and gateway into Evergem and the Ghent canal zone. The R4 west will soon be the international throughout connection road between Rotterdam, Zeeland, Antwerp and France. G2i is therefore accepting the challenge to turn Kop van Nest into a dynamic and quality work and services location.
