Choosing a G2i work site is choosing a dynamic economic region. The Ghent Canal zone has considerable growth potential on the labour market, has international industrial players and an extended network of supliers, service providers and customers.

The canal zone Ghent-Terneuzen is a medium sized port by European standards. The Ghent port is a true industrial and production port dominated by a number of very large companies, such as Sidmar and Volvo.

In 2007 a total of 65 730 people were employed in the Ghent Canal zone, or about 16% of the total employement in East-Flanders.

Energy, automotive, distribution and logistics, agro & food and chemical are the main clusters. These clusters have various segments with a certain coherence, as schematically rendered on the cluster map Ghent canal zone.
